Although there has been great interest from many
sources, negotiations with interested parties have
not led to a satisfactory result. The DFDS Group Management
has therefore decided to retain the travel bureau activity
in the DFDS Group.
At the same time it has also been decided to merge the
two bureaus and operate under the name DFDS Travel A/S.
Mr Ole Mortensen from DanTransport Travel has been
appointed to the post of managing director. He will take
over the management from today. Also from today Steen Ruby,
Managing Director, Maersk DFDS Travel, will transfer to
Group tasks in DFDS A/S.
Organizationally DFDS Travel will be a part of the DFDS
Seaways Division with the undersigned as chairman of the
board. In addition, it has been decided that there shall be
a joint IT platform, and we expect a new management and a
new operational structure to be in place before the end of
1999.
It is our conviction that the new company will be a
trendsetter in the market, and that it will develop into
one of the leading travel bureaus on the Scandinavian
market.
