DFDS has sold the second largest business travel agency
in Denmark, DFDS Travel, to the German travel industry
group Preussag AG. The parties have agreed not to disclose
the price.
It is DFDS’ strategy to focus on shipping activities,
including the passenger shipping activities in DFDS Seaways
and the freight shipping activities in DFDS Tor Line. The
sale of DFDS Travel to Preussag AG is a solution that
ensures that also in the future DFDS Travel will be able to
conform to business customers’ requirements for
international travel and supplier concepts. With the sale
of DFDS Travel, DFDS at the same time fulfills its
strategic objectives.
The integration of Maersk DFDS Travel and the
DanTransport Rejsebureau has been very successful, and, as
stated in the report for the first six months, in August
2000, the positive development has continued.
DFDS Travel has a gross turnover of approximately DKK
1.8 billion, corresponding to a net turnover of DKK 160
million, which is the amount that is included in the DFDS
Group’s turnover. DFDS Travel has more than 300 employees
in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden and a competitive IT
platform. This gives Preussag AG a good foothold in the
Scandinavian market. Preussag AG is one of the leading
European companies in the travel sector and has one of
Europe’s largest business travel agencies. The group has a
gross turnover of more than DKK 150 billion and
approximately 80,000 employees.
The sale is satisfactory for DFDS, as it will have a
positive effect on the result for the year before tax of
approximately DKK 15 million, and a significant positive
effect on liquidity.
Yours sincerely,
DFDS A/S
