The extension of DFDS Fraktarna AB’s logistics centre in
Stockholm with 17,000 sqm makes DFDS Dan Transport one of
the biggest transport and logistics companies in Sweden
with a total logistics warehouse capacity of 145,000 sqm
split up between DFDS Fraktarna AB and DFDS Nordisk
Transport AB.
The logistics activities in DFDS Fraktarna AB have
developed considerably during the last 10 years and are now
the company’s second largest business area.
In Stockholm the logistics activities have been handled
in four warehouse facilities. In order to increase the
efficiency the warehouses have now been brought together
under one new lease, which for the letter has entailed an
investment of SEK 85 mio. The new warehouse facility opens
on 1 January 2001. DFDS Fraktarna AB has signed a 10-year
lease contract with an option for further expansion.
DFDS Fraktarna AB’s national distribution system, which
is the third biggest distribution system in Sweden, plays a
vital part in the logistics business as many of the
shipments are distributed within Sweden. Through a
nationwide transportation network based on guaranteed time
of delivery DFDS Fraktarna AB has succeeded in signing
important contracts with large companies in Sweden, such
as: Xerox, Philips, Scholl, ABB Motors, Whirlpool among
others.
In addition to the activities in Stockholm, DFDS
Fraktarna AB has also considerable logistics activities in
Malmoe, Gothenburg, Norrkoeping, Joenkoeping, Hultsfred,
Karlskrona and Kalmar. DFDS Fraktarna AB has an annual
turnover of SEK 1.006 mill. and 595 employees.
