Today a letter of intent was signed regarding the
establishment of a strategic alliance between DFDS Roland
Munch A/S, Bøg Madsen a/s, and the GASA Århus A/S Group.
The alliance involves both transport of flowers and
development of joint distribution and logistics
systems.
With the establishment of the new alliance DFDS Roland
Munch will take over Bøg Madsen’s fleet of vehicles,
consisting of 38 road trains, as of 1 July 2000. Thus the
company becomes Denmark’s largest supplier of potted plant
transport. All the drivers employed by Bøg Madsen will be
offered employment in DFDS Roland Munch, which is a
subsidiary of the DFDS Dan Transport Group A/S.
At the same time the new agreement cements the one year
old alliance between GASA Århus and Bøg Madsen, and its
objective is to optimize the production/capacity ratio of
every single flower transport to the European export
markets, both to increase the companies’ earnings and to
improve competitiveness.
To further rationalize the logistics GASA Århus, Exposa,
and Bøg Madsen will initiate a packing cooperation during
the summer, so that flowers for the companies’ joint
transports are packed in the same places. In addition, the
new alliance opens the possibility of the companies’
establishing a joint planning department.
The alliance’s total volume also makes possible a joint
development of IT-based planning systems, including a route
planning system for all of Europe and a surveillance system
that keeps track of where in Europe each and every road
train is located. DFDS Roland Munch A/S already has
comparable sector solutions with Arla Foods, Carlsberg,
Danish Crown and Tulip International, among others.
Yours sincerely,
DFDS Dan Transport Group A/S
Bøg Madsen a/s
GASA Århus A/S
