The Copenhagen-Helsingborg-Oslo service
After being rebuilt, the newly-acquired
ship will be entered into service on the
Copenhagen-Helsingborg-Oslo route in June 2001, replacing
the QUEEN OF SCANDINAVIA. Thus the Oslo service will
achieve a required capacity of 725 cabins, against the
QUEEN's 600 cabins. The ship was built in 1989 at the Wärtsila Shipyard in
Finland, for the route between Sweden and Finland, and most
recently she has served as a cruise ship in the Far
East. The Amsterdam-Newcastle service
In the future, the QUEEN OF SCANDINAVIA
will operate the Amsterdam-Newcastle service, which at the
present time is the most rapidly growing service in DFDS
Seaways. The QUEEN will replace the KING OF SCANDINAVIA and
provide the route with a capacity of 600 cabins against the
KING's 215 cabins. New route to Poland
From spring 2002 the KING OF SCANDINAVIA
will be entered into service on a new route between
Copenhagen and Gdansk/Gdynia in Poland. Investment
The total investment for the acquisition of
the new ship, rebuilding, renovation, and rotation of the
three mentioned ships amounts to approximately USD 100
million. Facts about STAR AQUARIUS
