DFDS Tor Line to strengthen Norwegian Routes

The next step will be taken on 1 July 2001 when DFDS Tor Line ceases using its Oslo terminal for ro-ro services, concentrating all Oslo Fjord traffic at the new Hub Terminal in Brevik instead. This will enable DFDS Tor Line to reduce the three ro-ro vessels currently operated to two without affecting capacity. There will be direct ro-ro sailings twice a week between Brevik-Kristiansand and Rotterdam on the Continent and Immingham in the UK.

In Brevik the vessels will use the Europa-Terminal AS, of which DFDS Tor Line is now a majority shareholder.

On 1 July 2001 DFDS Tor Line will also start a new co-operation with Team Lines, which will enable DFDS Tor Line to offer its feeder service customers two roundtrips weekly between Oslo-Brevik-Kristiansand and Hamburg-Bremerhaven.

To supplement the new concentration of ro-ro traffic via the Brevik Hub, located close to the Norwegian export industries, DFDS Tor Line is considering adding lo-lo tonnage to the ro-ro tonnage in order to offer a more flexible product for those customers whose geographical location means they do not require ro-ro solutions. The lo-lo tonnage will be either chartered in or arranged in co-operation with other partners.

Yours faithfully,
DFDS Tor Line Group A/S
