Subsequent restructuring means that LISCO has been split
into two new companies, which both held their first general
meetings in Vilnius today. DFDS Tor Line now owns 76.36% of
the shares in AB LISCO Baltic Service, which is listed on
the Lithuanian stock exchange.
The affiliated company AB LJL, owned by the Lithuanian
government, will continue LISCO’s tramp trade
activities.
DFDS Tor Line received written approval of the deal from
the Lithuanian competition authorities on 25 June 2001.
AB LISCO Baltic Service owns three ro-pax ships and
three ro-ro ships, as well as six multi-purpose/container
ships operating under time charter agreements of varying
length. The ro-pax and ro-ro ships operate a liner service
between Klaipeda and Kiel, Mukran, Åhus and Karlshamn. The
Kiel and Mukran routes are operated in co-operation with
Scandlines.
With the finalisation of the deal between the Lithuanian
state and DFDS Tor Line, yet another important piece of the
strategic plan to expand existing activities in the Baltic
Sea has fallen into place. In accordance with the new
strategy, DFDS Tor Line now operates ro-pax and container
services, activities that are expected to be further
expanded in the future.
Yours faithfully,
DFDS A/S
