DFDS Seaways announced on 11 July 2002, the sale of the
ADMIRAL OF SCANDINAVIA. The vessel will now be delivered to
the new buyers in mid-November.
Negotiations about charter of replacement tonnage now
take place. On the basis hereof, DFDS Seaways plans to
resume the passenger service Cuxhaven-Harwich from April
2003. This date is due to the availability of the preferred
vessel to be chartered on Bare Boat basis to be operated
under Danish DIS flag.
DFDS’ freight division DFDS Tor Line plans to operate a
ro-ro all freight service Cuxhaven-Harwich from
mid-November 2002 and until DFDS Seaways, as planned,
resumes the combined passenger/freight service in April
2003.
The passenger figures on the Cuxhaven-Harwich service in
the third quarter of 2002 have been some 60.000, an
increase of 12 per cent in comparison with the same period
in 2001.
