M.s. ADMIRAL OF SCANDINAVIA, built in 1976, was taken
over by DFDS Seaways in 1987, and has been deployed on the
Hamburg-Harwich service until March this year, at which
time she was shifted to the service between Cuxhaven and
Harwich, which commenced 2 March 2002.
The sale is part of DFDS’ previously announced tonnage
renewal strategy. Replacement tonnage will be provided
either by redeploying vessels in the DFDS Seaways’ fleet or
chartering a suitable vessel. The process of
exploring the possibilities of chartering suitable tonnage
has been commenced and will comprise cruise ferries as well
as ro-pax vessels.
The sale of m.s. ADMIRAL OF SCANDINAVIA will have a
negative impact on DFDS’ expected result for 2002 in the
order of DKK 12 million.
Yours sincerely,
DFDS A/S
