DFDS’ passenger terminal in Esbjerg has been sold to the
Port of Esbjerg for takeover on 1 October 2002.
The deal includes two workshops, ’Provianthuset’ and
’Stenpakhuset’, in addition to the terminal building
itself. ’Stenpakhuset’ will, however, be rented back for a
five-year period starting from the takeover date.
The sale of the passenger terminal is a step towards
realizing DFDS’ goal of combining DFDS Seaways’ passenger
traffic and DFDS Tor Line’s ro-ro traffic in order to
streamline future operating activities. In this connection,
it has been decided to transfer passenger activities from
the current terminal to ‘Smørkajen’ 1 October 2002.
The Port of Esbjerg intends to investigate new potential
uses for the workshop buildings, which share the same
attractive location as the terminal.
Yours faithfully,
DFDS Seaways A/S
