The rebuilding is caused by DFDS’ wish to increase the
ship’s passenger capacity and improve its public areas.
After the rebuilding the ship can accommodate
approximately 600 passengers.
In addition to the increased number of passenger cabins,
the restaurant and other public areas are expanded,
including shopping area, bar and café. The vessel will have
196 cabins, of which 18 are commodore de luxe cabins with
lounge and separate sundeck.
The Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk was awarded the
contract in competition with other European tenderers. The
investment in this rebuilding is totalling approximately
DKK 135 million.
The ship, which has not yet been named, will be employed
on the Esbjerg-Harwich route, in replacement of the ro-pax
vessel DANA GLORIA, as of mid-June 2003. This is a little
later than originally planned.
The plan is to sell the DANA GLORIA to the subsidiary
company AB Lisco in Lithuania, as part of the company’s
fleet renewal strategy to improve the existing Lisco ro-pax
concept in the Baltic.
Yours sincerely,
DFDS A/S
