The vessels have been sold to Norwegian interests and
the parties have agreed not to disclose the price.
Built in 1978 for a French owner, the sister ships TOR
BELGIA and TOR DANIA were acquired by DFDS in 1992. Both
ships were extensively refurbished in 1994 and 1995,
respectively, when they were extended by 24 metres and
freight capacity increased to approximately 2,700 lane
metres. The ships ply the route between Gothenburg and
Ghent.
DFDS Tor Line has chartered both ships from the
purchaser for four years and they will continue to be in
service on DFDS Tor Line’s route network. They will sail
under Swedish flag after the sale.
A total of 12 freight vessels have been sold since early
2001 when DFDS announced a new tonnage strategy designed to
reduce the average age of the freight fleet and increase
ownership flexibility.
