Korsnäs AB and DFDS A/S have signed Letter of Intent covering a co-operation related to Korsnäs’ Swedish shipping based volume of approx. 450,000 tonnes p.a. The idea is to create a new platform for advanced paper logistics which accommodates Korsnäs’ needs for cost optimization and distribution frequency based on DFDS Tor Line’s route network.
”We consider this co-operation with DFDS Tor Line the next phase in the development of our transport system. DFDS Tor Line’s unique European network combined with high flexibility in terms of individual logistic adaptations create transport solutions which we hardly would have been able to implement on our own,” says Lennart Jansson, Distributrion Manager of Korsnäs AB.
”Through the confidence shown by Korsnäs we are closer to fulfilling our ambitions for the Swedish east coast of establishing efficient logistics solutions based on Ro-Ro shipping, which in due course can prepare the ground for other industries on the east coast”, says Björn Petrusson, Managing Director of DFDS Tor Line AB.
The project, which implies outsourcing of the Korsnäs shipping based logistics chain, has matured during the summer of 2004, and includes three chartered Ro-Ro vessels for three years, currently in service between Sweden, the UK and the Continent.
