The DFDS-owned company, Lisco Baltic Service, has sold the train ferry KLAIPEDA to Greek interests for transfer beginning of July. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
KLAIPEDA, built in 1987, is in service between Klaipeda, Lithuania, and Sassnitz, Germany.
The sale is part of the strategy laid down by DFDS in 2001 to reduce the average age of its freight vessels from approximately fourteen years to approximately ten years. This goal was reached by the end of 2004, as the average age had then been reduced to 9.1 years, and this level was maintained during 2005.
