The Chairman of the Board of Directors will inform the AGM of the appointment of Niels Smedegaard (43) as the new CEO.
Niels Smedegaard succeeds Ole Frie who will retire as planned at the end of 2006 after 46 years with DFDS.
The Board of Directors of DFDS appointed Niels Smedegaard after a thorough selection procedure. The decision was based on his extensive international management experience in logistics services for major industrial customers for whom quality, reliability and ‘just-in-time’ are key factors.
Niels Smedegaard’s results and wide-ranging experience of financial management, M&A and IT-based business models will also add value to DFDS’ growth strategy and financial targets.
Niels Smedegaard has previously worked for the SAS Group, Swissair and, most recently, Gate Gourmet Group.
The Group Management also consists of Christian Merrild, CFO, and Søren Jespersen, Director.
