Profit expectation 2006 upgraded to DKK 400 million (SEA)

The profit expectation in the half-year report was a pre-tax profit of approximately DKK 325 million. Due to the profit development in the third quarter, which was better than expected, and expectations of a continued robust market situation in the freight sector, DFDS upgrades the profit expectation for 2006 to a pre-tax profit of approximately DKK 400 million.

The profit increase is attributable to the freight activities in DFDS Tor Line, where market growth exceeded expectations in the third quarter, which improved capacity utilization and hence earnings. In addition, the renewal of the fleet has contributed to creating a competitive cost level.

For the passenger activities in DFDS Seaways the third quarter was as expected influenced by continued difficult trading conditions.

The profit for the remainder of the year can still be impacted by external events especially changes in the level of demand in the freight and passenger markets. Moreover, some uncertainty remains concerning the economic impact of changes to the oil price.

The third quarter report is published on 29 November 2006.
