Who is eligible to travel on staff tickets?
All DFDS employees can travel along with family or friends, according to the staff ticket scheme. There is no upper limit to how often you can travel on staff tickets; however, space is always only available to the extent that no space is taken from paying passengers.
If the DFDS employee does not participate in the journey the booking is not valid, no discounts are given to family and friends.
The previous 3-month-employment rule applying to new employees does not apply anymore.
The first cabin (only applies to Standard cabins) is free; extra cabins at fixed, reduced rates. If you are bringing along more children of your own than you can accommodate in the first cabin, you are allowed to have extra cabins free of charge.

Onboard purchases
All purchases in the ship's restaurants, bars and shops are made at the stated price. Upon arrival back home the discounts are reimbursed upon showing machine stamped, specified, and coded receipts. For onboard purchases, the boarding card must be shown to the vendor, and the vendor is asked to make a "staff-receipt". These receipts cannot be used along with other discount schemes or value coupons on board.
On routes with duty-free onboard sales (Copenhagen-Frederikshavn-Oslo), 45 % of the purchases made in the ship's restaurants and bars as well as 45 % of the purchases of wine, liquor, perfume and chocolate in the shops is refunded. For purchases made in the shop of accessories, clothing etc. 30% will be refunded.
Discounts are only given on purchases for personal use made by the employee and the first adult travel companion as well as children of the employee. No onboard discounts are given to further travel companions.
Upgrades
When you are travelling under the complimentary ticket scheme, it is possible to get upgrades to premium cabins at favourable prices; provided of course that space is available. Upgrades can be arranged from 14:00 on the day of departure onboard the ship in the Guest Service Centre.
If you wish to prebook to premium cabin, note that it will be at a normal rate.
If it is not possible to be upgraded both ways on a MiniCruise, you can still be upgraded on one leg if that has the required available capacity upon payment of a single-leg charge that covers the added expenses of cleaning etc.
