Chef D. Praspaliauskas' kitchen rises on the waves of the Baltic Sea
Deivydas Praspaliauskas, who has twice won the title of the best chef in Lithuania, is starting cooperation with DFDS, one of the largest ferry operators in Europe. From May, the menu created by D. Praspaliauskas will be available in the restaurants Mare Balticum located on the DFDS ferries.

According to R. Kogel, DFDS has been looking for a chef for some time to turn a traditional ferry restaurant into a gourmet, top-quality kitchen and give passengers an exceptional experience. Chef D. Praspaliauskas accepted the challenge to create a menu for the floating restaurant Mare Balticum in the autumn, having received an offer from DFDS to prepare a gourmet dinner on the waves.
"It was very important for me to find a common approach to food: only the freshest, highest quality products should be used for it, and the principles of regional and seasonal cuisine should be followed. Finally, food is prepared with professionalism, love and, most importantly, creativity. I have seen that the DFDS team - both the management and the galley team - have this approach. Therefore, now the fun part remains - to create unforgettable impressions on the Baltic waves, ”says chef D. Praspaliauskas about the new gastronomic challenge.
The menu created by D. Praspaliauskas pays special attention to regional cuisine, focuses on seasonal products of local producers, it is rich in fish dishes: trout ceviche, tuna salad, Matjes herring, seafood soup, menu decoration dorada and other delicacies.
“My goal is for people to discover special, new combinations of flavors, enjoy different textures and creative food presentation while tasting my dishes. Dinner is a process in which you can constantly discover something new, interesting, feel an unexpected aftertaste. We want to give the restaurant's customers an exceptional experience - a trip to the sea of flavors on the Baltic waves, ”says D. Praspaliauskas.
