The UK is proudly one of the world’s great sporting nations, taking part in just about every international competition going. It’s also the original home to many sports and competitions, including association football, cricket, golf, tennis and more. It’s a great destination for sports fans, and with DFDS ports in Dover, Newcastle and Newhaven giving easy access to both the north and south of England, you’re never more than a few hours’ drive away from a sporting attraction.
If you’re visiting the UK by car, what better time to attend a motorsports event? There are many of these taking place up and down the country, primarily throughout the summer months. We’ve explored a few of these in more detail, including Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival, the Formula One Grand Prix and MotoGP British Grand Prix.
At Silverstone circuit you’ll find the British Grand Prix for both Formula One and MotoGP. So, whether your preference is for four wheels or two, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the world’s greatest drivers battle it out to be crowned champion.
Goodwood is one of the UK’s best known racing circuits, which has established several events that offer all the thrills of the racetrack with the atmosphere of a festival. The Festival of Speed takes place around a hill climb, celebrating the speed of the vehicles. In comparison, Revival takes a look back on the halcyon days of British motorsport, featuring all manner of classic cars and fashion.
In addition to the motorsports events, we also have details of the British Open – one of international golf’s four major tournaments.
Our sports events guides contain information on a wealth of additional sporting entertainment and spectacles available. These include football stadium tours, marathons, golf competitions and tennis tournaments taking place in the spring and early summer. There’s also information on the football Premier League beginning in August.
