Transportation services for the entire supply chain

No matter what type of cargo or how much you need to move, we can provide transport services and ensure flexibility for any load size. Whether you need full container, partial load, or specialized cargo solutions, we have it covered.

Due to our extensive network, we make your supply chain services more efficient by offering flexible and reliable solutions. Additionally, we provide cold chain logistics for perishable goods like seafood, frozen vegetables, and oils, ensuring safe and temperature-controlled transport and storage.

Choosing the right load: full or partial

A full load refers to cargo that occupies an entire container or trailer, offering exclusive use of the space. Full container loads (FCL) and Full trailer loads (FTL) are ideal when you have large volumes to ship. For smaller shipments, a part load can be more cost-effective.

At DFDS we offer the flexibility to add integrated solutions to your full load, ensuring seamless management of your supply chain. Our environmentally friendly FCL and FTL services use state-of-the-art equipment and emission-reducing technologies for sustainability.

Special cargo solutions for oversized loads

Special cargo refers to out of gauge or oversized loads, such as construction materials, large machinery, or wind turbine components. When a load exceeds standard size or weight limits and needs specialised handling, our special cargo services meet these needs.

From extendable flatbeds to low loaders, DFDS offers a range of options tailored to your specific requirements. As special cargo transport often requires careful coordination, our integrated logistics solutions will ensure a smooth and efficient process from start to finish.

Efficient shipping for part loads

When you say part loads you automatically think about LTL and LCL shipping. Less than Trailer Loads (LTL) and Less than Container Loads (LCL), are ideal when your cargo doesn’t fill an entire truck or container.

You should choose part loads when you want a cost-effective option, and when your shipment can be combined with others. LTL and LCL shipping allow you to save on transport while still receiving specialized care. You can also add integrated solutions to manage your part loads, ensuring seamless delivery across your entire supply chain.

Groupage transport

Groupage combines your shipment with cargo from other companies, making it cost-effective for smaller loads. If you only have a few pallets, we group your goods with others heading in the same direction, sharing transport costs. Unlike CDT, which coordinates multiple locations for one company, groupage consolidates shipments from different businesses to optimise transport.

Consolidated distribution transport

Consolidated distribution transport (CDT) efficiently manages shipments across multiple locations, unlike groupage, which combines shipments from different companies. For businesses with multiple sites, CDT enables coordinated pickups and deliveries in a single route, streamlining logistics and reducing transport costs.

Logistics services involve the managing and moving of goods from one location to another. This includes selecting appropriate transport modes, optimising delivery routes, and coordinating shipments.

A logistics and transport company manages the flow of goods across the supply chain. This includes coordinating transport, warehousing, inventory management, and delivery. The main goal is to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure secure, reliable operations.

The four modes of transportation are road, rail, air, and sea. Road is often used for its flexibility over short distances, while rail is ideal for transporting bulk goods across longer routes. Air transport is chosen for fast, high-value cargo, and sea freight is best suited for large, international shipments.
