With several acquisitions over the past few years and more on the horizon, DFDS is growing fast. Our Finance Division plays an essential role in this process.

Designed to enhance your professional toolbox and provide insight into your career path, the program is divided into three eight-month rotations. The program will take you on an exciting yet challenging journey, placing you within diverse and talented teams that will push you to expand your competencies in various areas of finance. Your first two rotations will be in Group Controlling and Business Partnering (the order will be decided before the program start), and you will conclude the program with the Elective rotation.

The Program Rotations

Rotation 1 and 3 is in our HQ while you will pack your bags and go for an adventure in rotation 2, working at one of our offices abroad.

Rotation 1 (HQ) or 2 (abroad): Group Controlling

Working in Group Controlling, you will develop your skills within consolidation, accounting and analysis.

You will prepare financial statements, accounting memos and assist our M&A department with accounting tasks.

You will also make controlling visits throughout the year to locations throughout Europe to gain a better understanding of our entities and strengthen the quality of reporting.

Moreover, you will assist our subsidiaries in the reporting mechanism between local ERP systems and our consolidation system.

Rotation 1 (HQ) or 2 (abroad): Business Partnering

Working in Business Partnering, you will strengthen your abilities within business performance analysis and expand your cross-cultural competencies.

You will get hands-on experience in the forecasting process and learn to identify which areas of shipping and logistics require in-depth analysis to improve business performance.

You will also carry out daily tasks that may include tracking and follow-up of customer profitability, development of new KPI reports, and assisting with management reporting for the division to senior management.

Rotation 3: Electives (FP&A or Treasury)

In your final rotation, you will select between a focus on financial planning & analysis or treasury.

Here you will enhance your abilities in analysing business unit performance.

You will deliver analyses to Group Executive management, highlight performance gaps and potential investment opportunities, and ensure that proper actions are implemented to close possible performance gaps.

You will work with peers across business units, core group functions, and senior management by providing support to decision-making processes, financial management information, performance management reporting and financial planning.

After your two-year journey, you will have gained a well-rounded understanding of and valuable skills within the financial side of shipping and logistics. Additionally, if the fit is right, we will invite you to continue your journey with DFDS.
