FREIGHT FERRY ALERTS APP
The digitisation of DFDS is gaining momentum, and now a fruitful collaboration between Digital, IT and the business with an external partner involvement has given birth to a new app that will give our customers easy and immediate access to information they need: DFDS Freight Ferry Alerts app.
"The new app supports our freight shipping digital strategy and are our concrete responses to feedback from the Customer Focus Surveys in which our freight clients said that they would like us to be even easier to work with, that we come up with solutions and communicate fast. This is exactly what our app does, even though it is still at an initial stage and will be further developed quickly," says Sean Potter, Freight Shipping Digital Officer.
With the new app for freight drivers and planners on the Dover – Dunkirk & Calais routes, customers can follow the sailings they are interested in and get push notifications when check-in is open, when it closes, whether the sailing is delayed and if there is any other information relevant to their crossing.
The app was completed last week in 10 languages and released into Google Play and the Apple Store for download.
"This app was developed to give an immediate market advantage on the Channel with regard to communications with drivers, and we see many advantages in being able to communicate directly with them. We have high expectations of the app and we are confident that it will add value to our freight business," says Wayne Bullen, Freight Sales Director.
Ultimately, this app will be absorbed into the Freight Terminals app when we have refined and developed it further. This means that in the future there will only be one app for the Freight Shipping Division.
