From the beginning of December, Scandinavians start preparing in anticipation of Christmas. During this month they decorate, cook and bake, purchase presents and enjoy family meals as well as listening to Christmas carols at the church. They also celebrate St Lucia, known as the Festival of light, on 13 December. Naturally, the Christmas spirit spreads across Scandinavia and shines through the Christmas markets of Copenhagen and Oslo. To get from one capital to another, we recommend our Copenhagen- Oslo overnight cruise.
From ice rinks and ferris wheels to unique craft stalls, jewellery and more, the Oslo Christmas markets aim to satisfy all tastes and share the holiday spirit. Enjoy an enchanting seasonal escape and don’t miss the following Christmas markets: Julemarked Christmas market from Youngstorget Square, Jul i Vinterland Christmas Market and the Christmas Fair at the Norwegian Museum of Natural History.
If you are looking for original, handmade gifts, beautiful decorations and an exciting time, Copenhagen’s Christmas Markets are a must visit. From amusement park adventures and skating on top of a frozen lake, to listening to traditional Christmas music while drinking mulled wine, Copenhagen is bound to satisfy the needs of each visitor. We suggest you don’t miss the Tivoli Christmas Market, the Nyhavn Christmas Market, the Nytorv Christmas Market and the Freetown Christiana Market.
