Ferry Passengers are being given the opportunity to create their virtual passenger when they book passage online with award-winning ferry operator DFDS, from the UK over the coming weeks.

The innovative approach, FIP (Ferry Important Passenger) enables them to select an avatar with similar characteristics and travel needs and in a few clicks they quickly and simply tailor a range of free perks that best suit them.

Offers include kids eat free and pets go free for travel from Newcastle or Dover as well as free cabin upgrade or free breakfast on the Newcastle-Amsterdam route and free Premium Lounge or priority loading on Dover-Calais or Dunkirk routes.

Stephen House, Senior Campaign Manager at DFDS said: "This is about tailoring the right services and, as FIP implies, delivering a red carpet treatment to fit the passenger or group, to help them make the most of the excellent facilities that DFDS can offer.

It also creates a more emotive booking interface and experience, relevant to the particular traveller. Passenger A might be a young guy, who likes his food and drink, travelling on to a trendy destination. Passenger B might be a middle-aged family man travelling with his family and their dog, heading to different type of destination.

Thanks to FIP, both will receive relevant and quite different offer suggestions and with the information we gather contribute to bespoke deals in the future, whether passengers are planning a short stay close to the port or travelling onward to the myriad of European destinations.

The FIP campaign will run from 7 August - 2 September and continues a DFDS tradition to deliver peak summer travel campaigns focused on our great additional services."
