DFDS continue to offer Ukrainian refugees free transport across the DFDS passenger route network

A Ukraine Passport is required. If destination is to the UK a valid visa is also required to travel to the UK. It is important to arrive at the port with the necessary documents including visa, which will be checked by the UK Border Force during the check-in process.

All free crossings must be booked no less than 48 hours prior to departure and must be requested via e-mail to, providing the following information;

  • Passport numbers:
  • Date of birth (all passengers):
  • Type of vehicle, including height and length:

You will be booked on the first available sailing and can request a maximum of 1 crossing per route. Bookings cannot be made at the port on day of departure.

Please note that before traveling to the UK you must contact the ‘Animal and Plant Health Agency’ (APHA) for a pet licence via email at or call +44 3000 200 301 and select option 2. You will need both a pet licence and a visa before travelling to the UK.
