Newcastle leads Northern England's tourist map and has mastered the transition from an industrial city to a modern and hip metropolis. The cityscape is shaped by the seven bridges over the Tyne. The most famous of them, the Millennium Bridge, is both a landmark and a technical masterpiece. The tipping bridge enables cyclists and pedestrians to cross the river almost at ground level.
Shopping lovers will get their money's worth in the historic Grainger Market, the pedestrian zone or in the Eldon Square shopping centre. Anyone interested in art should visit the BALTIC Center. If you are not interested in art, go anyway! The building itself, a converted mill, is impressive and offers a wonderful view from the observation deck. Whether it's craft beer culture or Newcastle's oldest pubs, the obligatory pub visit in Newcastle is of course not to be missed!
