Autumnal Amsterdam
Amsterdam in the autumn is beautiful. Stroll the cobbled streets beneath the burnt orange and gold trees, taking in the winding canals and timber fronted houses which make the city so famous. Visit one of the city’s many museums including Anne Frank House or Rijksmuseum and why not stop by a street-side café to sample one of Amsterdam’s gastronomical delights such as Bitterballen or Poffertjes? For a spot of shopping, the Nine Streets area of the city has a selection of independent boutiques ideal for finding a unique souvenir from your trip to the Dutch capital.
Festive feelings
Travelling to Amsterdam over Christmas and New Year offers plenty of fun – from ice skating on Rembrandtplein, to browsing the Christmas markets to craning your necks to see the 22 metre Christmas tree in Dam Square, bedecked with thousands of sparkling lights. Witness the city light up in December and January for Amsterdam’s Light Festival which features light installations around the city from artists across the world. March sees the start of spring with flowers beginning to bloom and cafés opening their doors for alfresco dining once again.
