What is ETS?

The Emissions Trading System (ETS) aims to create financial incentives for shipping companies to cut greenhouse gas emissions, supporting the EU’s goal of climate neutrality – net-zero emissions – by 2050. As with previous regulations, we will introduce a surcharge to cover the increased EU-mandated costs. This standalone surcharge applies from 1 January 2024.
