Important

DFDS’ service on Kiel – St Petersburg ceases as external transport provider closes route

As DFDS doesn’t operate its own ferry between Kiel and St Petersburg, our service is maintained through chartering space on Finnlines’ ships on the route.

However, Finnlines has informed DFDS they will cease sailings on Kiel – St Petersburg as soon as possible. This means that DFDS’ agreement with Finnlines will end and that DFDS will have no service between the cities to offer our customers.

What is MGO BAF?

The MGO BAF, or Marine Gas Oil Bunker Adjustment Factor, compensates for fluctuations in the price of a ship's fuel.

If the price rises above a certain level, a surcharge will be applied. If the price drops below a certain level, a reduction in the surcharge will be applied.

Abnormal loads

For units exceeding 2.6 metres in width, the following surcharges shall apply:

  • 2.61-3.00 m — basic rate +16%,
  • 3.01-3.50 m — basic rate +32%,
  • 3.51-4.00 m — basic rate +48%,
  • 4.10-4.50 m — basic rate +64%,
  • From 4.51 m — on request.

Shipment of units exceeding 40 tonnes is subject to prior approval with additional rates given on application.
