About the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show has been held at the Royal Chelsea Hospital since 1912, with its origins many decades before that. The show has moved sites several times but has been based at its current site for the longest. It grew rapidly in popularity in the 20th century after the Queen and members of the royal family started attending. Over 150,000 people visit every year, enjoying the flower displays and the stunning garden designs by the best designers in the business.

How to get to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The show itself takes place within the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital in the borough of Chelsea in south west London. There are multiple bus routes that stop near the showground, or there’s Sloane Square tube station on the District and Circle lines that’s just a 10-minute walk away.

For national rail services, London Victoria is the nearest station to the showground.

What to see in Chelsea, London

Chelsea is one of London’s most prestigious boroughs, and home to many of its best museums and cultural sites. Next to the Royal Chelsea Hospital is the Saatchi Gallery, showground for many up-and-coming British artists. Further up into Kensington you have the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, just behind the iconic Royal Albert Hall. You can also see some great exhibitions in the world in the Victoria and Albert Museum. If you fancy indulging in some shopping, maybe pop into world-famous department stores like Harvey Nichols and Harrods.
