Electric trucks: A paradigm shift powered by partnerships

Advent calendar episode 1: DFDS and Volvo trucks - the power of partnership

In 2024, DFDS launched electric truck operations in Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, reaching eight countries. This marks significant progress towards sustainability goals while supporting the decarbonisation of supply chains.

Partnerships are the driving force

The shift to electric trucks goes beyond replacing diesel vehicles - it’s also about transforming mindsets. Our collaboration with Volvo Trucks has demonstrated the commercial viability of electric trucks. Together, we are sharing success stories, such as the electrification of the Volvo Trucks supply chain between Skövde and the Port of Gothenburg, and speaking at events to inspire wider adoption.

"We are leading this paradigm shift where the transition is not only physical, but cultural too.” Kasper Damgaard, Vice President, Head of Strategic Sales, DFDS

Moving forward together with confidence

While we take pride in our achievements, we remain aware of the challenges ahead. Decarbonising supply chains across Europe is an ambitious goal, and there are many obstacles to overcome. However, our progress so far has proven that with the support of partners, we will always find a way.
