Holy Island
Before you return to Newcastle on the ferry, you should plan a trip to Holy Island. A large part of the island is a bird sanctuary with a huge biodiversity. Up to 300 species of birds can be seen here, both native and migratory. On a steep hill is the ruins of Lindisfarne Castle. The former monastery was rebuilt in 1903 in a private house. Be sure to leave the island in time. The flood does not pay any attention to you and will not let you down from the island. Inform yourself early on the water levels.
