__Rotterdam, Monday, October 3, 2016 - DFDS expands fleet __

DFDS is expanding its fleet by adding a fourth ship on the Rotterdam - Immingham route. This route is one of the busiest routes between Rotterdam and the United Kingdom. Despite Brexit, the demand for transport continues to rise. The new ship, MV Friedrich Russ, can accommodate 110 trailers and 112 drivers.

Two departures

"With the deployment of four ships we can offer our customers two sailings daily from Monday to Saturday and an extra departure on Sunday. Increasing the frequency and capacity is a huge improvement for the export and forwarding industry in the Netherlands, Germany and other countries, "said Mikael Mortensen, Route Director Netherlands.

"In addition, our customers benefit from a small change in departure times. In the departure from Rotterdam is at 3 p.m. instead of 2 p.m. and in the evenings 8:45 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. arrival at our terminal and can use their trailers more efficiently, "says Mikael Mortensen.

Various routes

The four ships on the route Rotterdam - Immingham, Anglia Seaways, Corona Seaways, Fiona Seaways and Friedrich Russ, together account for thirteen sailings per week. On the second route, Rotterdam - Felixstowe, DFDS offers sixteen sailings every week. In addition to shipping activities, DFDS has major European logistics activities in Rotterdam.
