DFDS named the world's leading ferry operator 2016

December 2, 2016 DFDS Seaways has been named World's Leading Ferry Operator for the sixth time in a row. At the prestigious World Travel Award Gala, which was organized this year in the Maldives, DFDS Seaways was voted 'World's Leading Ferry Operator 2016'.

Tourism The World Travel Awards are the most important prizes awarded in the tourism sector. The winner is chosen by people who voted through the World Travel Award website and travel professionals. Winning the award is considered as recognition for a good service that is offered to customers. Other Dutch nominees this year were P&O Ferries and Stena Line.

Popular routes DFDS Seaways has an extensive route network. The IJmuiden - Newcastle, Dunkirk - Dover and Calais - Dover routes are particularly popular with residents of the Benelux, Germany and France.

With the IJmuiden - Newcastle route you will arrive at the most northerly tip of England upon arrival, which means that you can reach the Scottish border within an hour's drive. The city of Newcastle is also very popular. Among other things, the largest shopping center in England can be found in this city.
