DFDS adds new ship to the Rotterdam-Immingham route

__Copenhagen, 1 August 2017. On 23 July, DFDS added the new cargo ship Gardenia Seaways to the Rotterdam-Immingham route. __

The ship has space for 262 trailers. DFDS has taken delivery of a new freighter from a German shipyard. The ship was introduced on our busy cargo route between Rotterdam and Immingham on July 23. “We are proud of this. We have experienced significant growth in volumes on our routes to the UK in recent years. Thanks to the trust of our customers, we are now able to provide them with a new and modern ship that offers more capacity than the ship being replaced, "says Mikael Mortensen, Route Director Netherlands.

Gardenia Seaways, with a length of 210 meters, four ship decks and space for 262 trailers, will take over the sailings of Fiona Seaways and will call at Rotterdam three times a week. Fiona Seaways will be deployed elsewhere.

Gardenia Seaways is the first vessel to be deployed on this route within the ambitious fleet renewal program of DFDS. Within this renewal program, in addition to Gardenia Seaways, the sister ship Tulipa Seaways from the same shipyard will be added to the Rotterdam-Immingham route in September.

The renewal program also includes the delivery of four mega ro-ro ships from the Chinese shipyard Jinling in 2019 and 2020 for the North Sea Route of DFDS.
