Full load transport across UK and Europe

Full load transport, also known as full truckload, is a shipment of goods that occupies all the space in a vehicle or a container. DFDS offers full loads for larger goods at a fixed rate depending on the vehicle and storage size. Full loads cost more because the entire truck is used, but the benefit is that your shipment will have a dedicated vehicle without having to stop off for other deliveries.

Whether you have a full truck load (FTL) or a full container load (FCL), our set-up and expertise will ensure that your goods will arrive in perfect condition, every time. Our unique network of 24 ferry routes on a fixed schedule, 55 ferries, 8 port terminals, 9,000 trailer and container units, and 8,000+ local ferry and logistics experts across Europe and Türkiye will secure on-time delivery, every time.

FTL shipping straight to your destination

FTL transport is for shipments that require the entire available space of a truck. Your goods stay in one truck from your starting point to your destination. Once your shipment is packed, it will not move until it’s unpacked.

FTL services are ideal for businesses looking for exclusive space to move high value, high-risk items or heavy haul items across long distances. FTL is also used for smaller shipments.

FCL shipping

FCL means that the whole container is intended for one shipper. You do not necessarily have to completely fill the container – even if you cannot use every square meter, it may still be the cheaper method to use such type of transport.

Usually, if you have 12 pallets or more, FCL freight is likely to be the better solution. If you have large amounts of fragile goods, you might want to choose an FCL transport solution.

Environmentally friendly solutions

DFDS leads the industry in emission-reducing technology, and constantly searching for innovative and intelligent ways to reduce impact even further.

  • New reefer containers use carbon dioxide, which is non-ozone depleting and reduces the global warming impact of the cooling system to a fraction of that of conventional cooling systems.

  • +95% of all DFDS trucks are category Euro 5 or 6.

  • The new double-deck trailers allow to carry a higher volume of palletised loads.

  • 99% of the materials used in the production process are recyclable.
