Explore Finland with DFDS

Finland is the happiest country in the world and it’s easy to see why. With stunning landscapes, cultural cities and the home of Santa Claus, there’s plenty to be happy about in Finland.

The southern seaside town of Hanko offers a range of water sports, views across the archipelago and relaxing surroundings for a summer break.

Head west to explore the vibrant capital, Helsinki, head east to see the historical wooden houses of Rauma, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and journey north to discover some of the country’s national parks and stunning scenery.

The Finnish term ‘Everyman’s Right’ means you can walk freely in nature, anywhere you want. With 188,000 lakes and over 70% of the country covered in forests, it’s the perfect place to relax. Enjoy some mushroom or berry picking and why not set up camp in the beautiful Finnish countryside? As long as you clean up after yourself, you’re free to camp wherever you like!

Things to do in Finland

Known as the Land of the Midnight Sun, visit Finland in winter and immerse yourself in endless night or opt for a summer holiday and you’ll get 24 hours of sun. This environment offers unique experiences in all seasons.

In winter you are almost guaranteed a sighting of the Northern Lights which often appear more than 200 nights a year. Enjoy some skiing or if you’re visiting with family, drop in to see Santa Claus and his reindeer in Lapland, a beautiful town full of magic and tradition. You can even take a sleigh ride through the snow for a truly memorable experience.

In summer, the coastal capital of Helsinki offers a seaside and city break in one. Discover the neoclassical architecture, sample the local gastronomy and explore the UNESCO World Heritage Suomenlinna Sea Fortress which has defended Finland, Sweden and Russia in the past.

If you would prefer a more rural break, enjoy hiking in one of Finland’s 40 national parks which offer beautiful surroundings in all seasons.
