DFDS extends its record order with additional 25 electric trucks

DFDS orders an additional 25 electric trucks, adding to the 100 electric trucks ordered in October 2021. Deploying electric trucks is one action DFDS takes to reduce C02 emissions by 45% in 2030.

“Green transport solutions are already in high demand among customers, and our partnership with Volvo Trucks allows DFDS to meet this interest. Green investments in the heavy transport industry are a prerequisite to reach the emissions reductions needed for DFDS, customers, and society,” says Niklas Andersson, Executive Vice President and Head of Logistics Division at DFDS

Deliveries of the new 25 electric trucks will take place in 2023, with deliveries of the first 100 electric trucks to commence in Q4 2022. The electric trucks will be deployed on routes in the DFDS logistics system across Europe.

The Volvo FM Electric ranges up to 300 km on one charge with a distance that can be extended up to 500 km. with a top-up charging during the day. The Volvo FM Electric has a gross combination weight of up to 44 tons and can be charged overnight and via high power fast charging on the route.
