Order of 100 volvo trucks

• Deploying electric trucks is one way DFDS works to reduce C02 emissions with 45% in 2030.

• The new fleet of Volvo FM Electric trucks will be implemented throughout DFDS route network in Europe during 2022 and 2023.

"At DFDS, we're determined to become carbon neutral and offer a sustainable supply chain for our customers across Europe and Turkey. Electrification is an important element in this journey to reduce our carbon footprint. The electrical trucks will be in operations during 2022 and 2023 replacing conventional trucks", says Niklas Andersson, Executive Vice President and Head of Logistics Division at DFDS.

The heavy-duty Volvo FM Electric truck can carry a maximum weight of 44 tons (Gross Combination Weight). The new electric fleet will start to replace the conventional trucks during 2022 and 2023 at DFDS and can travel up to 300 km when fully charged. The trucks will be used for short and long journeys in DFDS supply chain.

“These vehicles are best in their class, and we need to educate our drivers how to operate the trucks. DFDS will turn to Volvo's expertise in eco-driving and our close collaboration will help DFDS stay competitive during this transition” says Niklas.

“This is a major milestone in our commitment to fossil-free transportation and I am very proud of the partnership we have with DFDS. Together we are showing the world that electrified heavy truck transport is a viable solution already today. I believe this will encourage many more customers to confidently take the first step in their own electrification journey,” comments Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.
