Estron Group is a family-owned company located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with around 130 employees. It’s a medium-sized logistics service provider with a fleet of 300 trailers and 120 trucks, based in a strategic location in the port of Rotterdam. The Group services both full- and part-load transports for dry goods by road and ferry between mainly the UK and Germany, Benelux, and Poland.

The acquisition of Estron Group expands DFDS’ transport network in several ways. By adding road transport capacity to the existing full-load operation to and from the UK, involving both ferry and road transport, we can align this service with the existing operations from DFDS’ location in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. In addition, Estron Group’s part-load and warehousing operations complement the existing similar operations based in Wijchen, the Netherlands.

The acquisition thus strengthens customer offerings and is expected to generate both commercial and operational synergies.

“The acquisition of Estron Group expands and enhances our road and ferry transport network connecting continental Europe and the UK. Our offering of warehousing and logistics services to especially our Dutch customers is also greatly improved,” says Niklas Andersson, Executive Vice President and Head of Logistics Division.

"We are convinced that DFDS is a strategic fit for Estron. By becoming DFDS we can expand the transport network of DFDS by adding capacity to the existing full-load operation to and from the UK for the ultimate combination of road and ferry transport. In addition, DFDS Wijchen is an ideal combination for our part-load and warehousing operations," says Dennis Noordzij, CEO Estron Group.
