Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is one of the most beautiful cities in the Nordics. This city with 14 islands and 50 bridges is often called The Northern Venice. Stockholm is about 90 km from Kapellskär habour, ideal when travelling by a DFDS ferry.

In stockholm you'll find The Drottingholm Castle, residence of the Swedish Royal Family. The palace was built in the 17th century and is very well preserved. The royal family lives in the castle's southern part and the rest of the castle is open to visitors.

What to see

The Skansen Open Air Museum is located on the picturesque island of Djurgården, near the Royal Park. Founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius, the museum is the oldest of its kind in Europe. Here you will find more than 150 historic buildings from the 14th century until the 1920s. The Skansen Open Air Museum is open to visitors daily.

The Tom Tics Experiment Center offers nearly 600 exciting experiments to try out for both children and adults.

The Army Museum, which focuses on war history, offers exhibitions from the Viking era and includes over 3,000 trophies.

The Nordic Museum and Skyview

The Nordic Museum presents Swedish culture and history. The museum has exhibitions of home, clothing and fashion, and shows the customs and culture of that time.

Skyview is the highest attraction in Stockholm. The glass gondola takes you to the world's largest circular building, the Ericsson Globe's exterior wall, 130 meters above the sea level, so you can enjoy an amazing view.

Shopping in Stockholm

If you love shopping, Drottinggatan, Sergels Torg and Kunstträdgården are the most popular pedestrian streets offering a wide range of stores. In the southern part of Stockholm, Skärholmen is home to the world's largest IKEA store, conveniently accessible by car. In the same area, there are other large shopping centres, including the most famous Outlet in Stockholm.

U One is another famous shopping centre in Stockholm, offering international clothing brands and an impressive selection of books.

Östermalm is an exclusive shopping area. Here you will find works by world-renowned brands and Scandinavian designers. For a hot drink of coffee, Galleria Shopping Centre is the best place, with 60 cafés shops.
